Andre Legault is an agricultural graduate of Alfred Agricultural College. After graduating from college, he returned home to the family farm and acquired a heard of 35 beef cows to join the already existing herd of 250 head of cattle owned by his father, Henry Legault. Frustrated by the fluctuating beef prices, he diversified in something different and new to the area; the production and distribution of nursery sod.
In 1995, Andre started supplying sod on a wholesale basis to slowly adapt to the sodding industry. In the span of 5 years, he expanded from 40 acres to 100 acres of Kentucky Blue grass. With the increase in available product, Andre opened the door to the retail market in the summer of 2001.
Today, Legault Sod Farms supplies and delivers Kentucky Blue grass, seed, soil, compost and fertilizer to Timmins residents, businesses and surrounding areas.
